next rehearsal 26 June, next performance 3 July

painting by Susan McClureThe Band meets on 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month from 7:30 pm to 9:15 pm at St Columba's Church Hall, corner of Alcester Road and Chantry Road, Birmingham B13 8DD.

All musicians are welcome at band meetings, and it's only £3 a session (£1.50 concessions). Come prepared to learn lively traditional tunes in several parts. If you read music, bring a music stand, but if you play by ear, that's fine.

The band's first outing was playing for Moseley Morris Big Dance as part of the 2006 Moseley Festival - Susan McClure's painting of this event is based on photos taken by Tom Skelcher.

Since then we have played twice at the annual All Saints Craft Fayre in Kings Heath.

Last year we launched the All Saints Church Fete in Kings Heath, where the sky miraculously cleared after days of rain. Village Band at summer feteThis is one of the photos taken by Topaz River.

We also made a major contribution to a Music by Candlelight concert in St Mary's Church as part of the 2007 Moseley Festival. The choirmaster thought it was about 150 years since a Village Band had played in this historic church and invited us back in December to share the platform with the Nova Wind Quintet in a Christmas concert, complete with carols and seasonal refreshment. It was a very cold night and the heating didn't work! but here are some photos of the pre-concert rehearsal.

The band meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 7:30 to 9:15 pm at St Columba's. Summer dates are:
Thursday 26 June - rehearsal
Thursday 3 July - as part of the Moseley Festival 2008:
7pm - Big Dance event, playing for massed morris dancing with Moseley Morris and friends - click here for details
7:30 - summer concert at St Mary's Church, Moseley

Thursday 10 July - rehearsal
Saturday 12 July - All Saints Summer Fete
